1939 Plymouth P8 Deluxe Convertible Coupe
In 1939, this P8 was at the top of the food chain in the automotive industry. Only 5900 examples were made compared to the comparable Ford 91A which produced over 10,000 examples. The cost of this beautiful Plymouth was $895, over $100 more then the Ford. Sounds like nothing today but in 1939, it was a considerable amount at over 12% more.
Take a close look at this beauty. An incredible build with all the right stuff. The body and frame are all original. The paint and all chrome and trim are flawless without a mark anywhere. The undercarriage is basically spotless with minimal signs of light usage.
The interior is virtually perfect starting with the seating and door inserts. The matching saddle colored leather with cloth insides display a beautiful custom, date correct pattern. This matching pattern is also used for the Rumble Seat in back. The dash is painted to match the exterior color. Features include many modern upgrades such as cold air conditioning, tilt wheel, power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, and a perfect power convertible top. For entertainment, an all-in-one Clarion hi-tech CD/DVD player, AM-FM four speaker stereo system with built in rear-view camera, Bluetooth, Sirius radio, Pandora and more, is installed and it all works perfectly. A custom digital gauge package was also installed. This gauge package provides all the necessary information you would expect from a brand new car of today (see photos). Seat belts were also added for safety. This gorgeous piece of machinery has everything and needs nothing.
Under the hood, is an updated engine and drive train built for today’s driving. The engine is a three year old, 2000 mile, 383 Stroke engine pushing over 400hp. The transmission is an 700R automatic with floor shifter matched to a Ford 9″ Posi Rear. The carburetor is a Quickfuel 700. It is equipped with a MSD-6AL for quick starts and an alternator replaces the old generator. For keeping cool, an oversized radiator was added. The front end is all new. She rides on 2″ Wide Whites, size P225/70R15’s that have 90%+ remaining tread life.
We challenge anyone to find a nicer example of this rarely seen Plymouth P8 Deluxe convertible. If your looking for a classic antique look with modern, daily driver features, this is it. Come on in and see for yourself.
