Wow! Please take a close look at the condition of this beautiful original Classic “Shoebox” Ford. Of course it has been completely restored from top to bottom. She came factory equipped with one of the most iconic and longest produced engines in history; the 239ci Flathead V8, There are no chops, crazy customizing, no Chevy 350 shoved under the hood and no Mustang frame or front end added here. This is a pristine original Ford Custom that looks far better than the factory could have ever imagined back in 1950, nearly 70years ago. A beautiful restoration has left this car in MINT yet original condition.
Often called, “the car that saved Ford”, the “shoebox” models as they were called, brought in a new design which caught on quickly and stood for many years to come. The Bullitt Grille became an outstanding feature look on the cars. The styling was so popular that other car makers were forced to follow. The beautiful styling still looks fresh today and has a cult like following for every type of collector. Made for those of modest means back in the day, they were quite easy on the pocket and just over $1500 yet were also seen as one of the “hippest” cars on the road.
The restoration of this car is simple incredible. The black paint is gleaming from every angle with no marks, bubbling or even a scratch. All chrome and trim is impeccable. The interior seating and headliner look like new with no tares and every stitch in place. The dash is refinished beautifully. Options weren’t many back in 1950 but this car comes nicely equipped with a heater/defroster, dash clock, push button radio, dual wipers, a full 4-gauge cluster surrounding the speedometer and interior lighting. Big Time stuff! Directionals and fog lights are also included but may not have been factory equipped. A nice feature of this model was the rear windows also had small vent windows that opened as well.
The power plant is the famous 239ci Flathead V8 pushing 100hp, a 3speed manual transmission with column shifter, Ford rear and dual exhaust. The original oil bath air cleaner tells a story. The engine is beautifully detailed and ready to rumble. The electrical system has been upgraded from a 6volt to a 12volt system so starting is easy and all lighting is far brighter than originally intended.
The body panels are all original and perfectly straight. Body side chrome and stainless pieces add a touch of class as well as the rear fender skirts. The undercarriage is 100% rust free but shows minimal usage from this Florida car.
